It's committed violence in the past and the future, and it wants the families split apart - if not dead.Disney Channel’s new series Secrets of Sulphur Springs, which at one point was set up at Disney+, is getting a second window on the global streaming platform in the first such arrangement for a Disney linear TV series. The spirit in the Tremont isn't misunderstood. This isn't some Scooby-Doo mystery or an Owl House type of evil. That will be figured out during the rest of the season, but it's already clear that Season 3 is different from anything that Disney Channel has ever aired. Their families and their lives had been completely ruined.Īfter Griffin returned to the present, he, Harper and Savanna started an investigation to figure out the identity of the malevolent ghost. Griffin's mother had also had a breakdown and was in a mental hospital. The malevolent ghost had caused an accident that left Harper's brother in a coma, and it had set up Griffin to take the fall. Prompted by a vision Harper had, Griffin went into the future, where he found out some awful things. It almost wrecked the grand reopening of the Tremont, but things were about to get much worse. With Harper's great-great-grandmother gone, something else moved in, and it was pure evil. Some ghosts can be heartfelt, but others aren't. With the land rightfully back in her family's possession, the ghost was at peace and ascended. After finding that out and switching places with her great-grandmother for a while, Harper convinced her mother to become a partner in the Campbells' efforts to reopen the Tremont. It turned out that Harper's family had been swindled out of their family home, and the benevolent ghost (who was Harper's great-great-grandmother) wanted the truth exposed.
If Savanna wasn't haunting the Tremont, what was? So, Griffin, Harper and Savanna traveled back to 1930 to find the root of the problem. Season 2 took things to a different level. She too had found the time machine and moved to a new life in the 1960s. However, the whole thing was ironed out when they found out that Savanna hadn't died. So, they went back to 1990 and found out that their parents had known Savanna before she died in a swamp. Early in the season, Ben's son Griffin (Preston Oliver) and his new friend Harper (Kyliegh Curran) discovered a time machine in a nuclear fallout shelter. The problem was the rumors: the Tremont Hotel was haunted by a ghost named Savanna (Elle Graham).
He had gone to summer camp on the property and wanted to fix it up. Season 1 started when Ben Campbell moved his family to Sulphur Springs, Louisiana, and bought an abandoned hotel. Here's a recap of the first two seasons and a look at the Season 3 double premiere. Seasons 1 and 2 introduced time travel, ghosts and conversations about racism, but Season 3 started something different by introducing real evil. It's a mystery series with some sprinklings of science fiction and an increasing focus on the supernatural. However, Secrets of Sulphur Springs isn't a sitcom.
Despite different stories and settings, they're all watered-down, comedic sitcoms for kids. Secrets of Sulphur Springs is unlike anything that Disney has produced before, and it's training up a new generation of horror fans.Īlmost all Disney shows feel the same. Some series were better than others, but whatever was on Disney defined viewers' childhoods.
